Invitation to the Cuvryfield Fest "mit Kind und Kegel"!
Following protests in Wrangelkiez, BMW have moved their promotional event (planned for the end of May) from the fallow field at the corner of Cuvrystr/Schlesisches Str to Prenzlauer Berg. The Bavarian firm that now owns the field wants to build apartments there. This much-loved open space will be gone... no dog walking, no more relaxing by the River Spree, no graffiti area... Instead, luxury apartments, but only for those who can afford the high rents.
We have a different plan. We want to keep the field for the whole community. The rents here are already too high, there are way too many owner-occupied condos, and the conditions for people on low incomes are deteriorating all the time.
So we want to stage a festival on the field, for residents by residents. We'd like to exchange ideas on how the field can be used as a community space, and to discuss rising rents and strategies of resistance. We want to celebrate our community together, to eat, drink, talk, and think about a social future.
There will be live music, cabaret, films, and political contributions. Food and drink will be available. For kids, there will be free ice cream and modelling/pottery activities.
If you want to eat delicious things from the grill, then bring them with you.
Think about whatever you'd like to contribute and bring that with you too.
2 June from 16:00, on the fallow field at the corner of Cuvrystr/Schlesisches Str
