Following the success of Artist's Impression in Nottingham earlier in the year, and the realisation of the same event this coming Saturday in Berlin, next week sees the focus shift to Amsterdam. Along with our partners W139, we've commissioned works from the architect and media artist Alonso Vazquez; and sound/performance artist Janneke van der Putten. On Thursday 5th September, these will be introduced at the W139 - along with a talk by me on Creativity, Capital and Commoning on the wastelands in Nottingham, Berlin and Amsterdam. Documentation of the events in Nottingham and Berlin will also be displayed, and there will be cheap soup for all!
Then, on Saturday 7th September, we're joining the 25th anniversary celebration Stitching Het Stenen Hoofd - a community group concerned with the fate of the wasteland, who have organised a number of events throughout their existence. They've organised a day of activities on the wasteland and we'll be offering audio walks where participants can hear the works by Janneke and Alonso, as well as audio recorded with participants of our events in Nottingham and Berlin.
These events are part of the Recreation Ground collaboration between Wasteland Twinning Nottingham, Wasteland Twinning Berlin and W139, Amsterdam. Recreation ground is supported by the European Cultural Foundation. Images from the events will be displayed at Wasteland Twinning Nottingham's exhibition at Attic, One Thoresby Street, Nottingham, 18th October to 9th November.
