Here is a series of photos documenting a collection of “Waste Artifacts” discovered in the KL wasteland on March 2012.
If one pay close attention to waste or discarded materials left behind by human action—similar to how an archaeologist could excavate and study the remnants of earlier civilization—could we also trace back and decipher the people who utilize this piece of land by looking at the uncollected man-made artifacts that were left behind unintentionally/intentionally? And how and when can an object be declared as “an artifact” versus “a piece of rubbish”? Does the object has to be of certain value? If yes, to whom? To the excavator? To the collector? Or is the value defined base on the treatment by the passage of time?
